“I LOVE this bathroom!” I cooed to Chef upon returning to our table in the main dining room. Call me sick, call me crazy, but yes, it’s true. This is the high school all-star varsity quarterback. I want to curl my hands around its smooth porcelain fixtures, rub my cheek against its cool white tile. Yes, I have a crush on this restroom – the Ladies Room at La Mar on Pier 1-1/2.
The Good: It’s oh-so-clean, charming, calming, bright, cheerful, white tile, wood, and porcelain, an orchid spray looms over the shelf by the mirror, antique fixtures but with modern touches where it counts. Nantucket meets San Francisco.
The Bad: It’s a bit small for such a sizeable restaurant.
The Ugly: If there was any ugly to it, I couldn’t see it.
Notes: There are two restrooms, one Ladies and one unisex, that are historic and part of the original Pier 1 that was built in the 1930s. The restaurant has done a beautiful job in restoring them. Easily my favorite restaurant bathroom in San Francisco.
